We want to share with you the incredible process of turning our books into audiobooks. Publishing a book is not an easy task, but adding an audiobook takes it to a whole new level. Fortunately, we have an amazing team of volunteer professionals who step up for each book.

One of the key players leading the audiobook process is world-renowned Sound Engineer Chris McCallum, also known as Soundo. For each of our four audiobooks - Broken to Brilliant, Terror to Triumph, Shattered to Shining, and Coerced to Courageous - Chris has gathered voice talent from across the globe, safely collected voice recorded files, and engineered each file to meet the strict guidelines of audio platforms. Chris has ensured that each book is brought to life in the best possible way.
Get the tone right!
Did you know that each chapter requires "room tone"? That's right - every chapter needs between 0.5 and 1 second of room tone at the beginning and end. Lucky for us, we have a volunteer Sound Engineer who takes care of all of that. Chris has been invaluable.
Our latest audiobook.
Our latest book, Coerced to Courageous, had 12 voice artists who volunteered to create the audiobook. These incredible individuals donated their skills, time, and income potential time slots for their studio and their own voices. Some of these voice artists do not even know us personally, yet they were willing to give to our cause. This is where Chris has truly helped us.
Voice gifts
The generous voice artists have "gifted" their professional voice-over skills, their precious time to record the chapter, and donated studio time. Thanks to Scout Management and RMK Voices studios. Also, Take2Creative Audio donated studio time.
All of this is to turn our fourth book, Coerced to Courageous: Taking Back Your Power After Coercive Control and Domestic Abuse, into audio. If you look up the costs of a voice-over artist, it can be $1500 per hour, and sound engineer fees are $850 per day. Our audiobooks would have cost around $22,000, but all of it was donated.
