The Broken to Brilliant Walking Group on the 2nd Saturday of the month, meets at Silky Oak Espresso coffee shop at Ainsdale St West Chermside at 7 am. We walk along to Downfall Creek, to Milne Hill & back for a cuppa at 8 am.

About The Event

Broken to Brilliant Walk

Join the Broken to Brilliant Walk every 2nd Saturday of the month. We meet at 7 am at Silky Oak Espresso coffee shop on Ainsdale St, West Chermside. The walk takes us along the Downfall Creek walking trails and up to Milne Hill, where you can choose between a flat hill walk or a more challenging one with steps. We return to the coffee shop by around  8 am for a cuppa. Please note that the Milne Hill part of the walk is not suitable for prams.

This walk offers a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors while focusing on gratitude and building social connections. It promotes respectful relationships and opposes Domestic Violence. Everyone is welcome, including victims, survivors, family and friends, and community members. It's a low-cost way to engage in physical activity in a supportive and safe environment. People of all backgrounds attend the walks, which helps to create a strong support network.

Walking has a host of health benefits, including reducing blood pressure, total cholesterol, and body fat, as well as lowering the risk of depression. During the walk, we focus on what we are grateful for ( we do not share stories of the abuse), this helps to increase happiness and reduce depression. Walking with a group reduces social isolation and increases feelings of connectedness.
