SUPPORT WALK

The  Broken to Brilliant Support  Walk combines the health benefits of walking with the psychological benefits of being with a group of like-minded people and practising gratitude into one 45-60 minute (maximum time) walking and stretching session. Afterwards, we stop and have a chat while enjoying at cuppa at the local coffee shop.

This walk is for survivors who have safely left the abusive relationship and are seeking friendship and support as they rebuild their lives. Also welcome are their friends, family and those who work in the domestic violence sector.

Broken to Brilliant Support Walks have expanded to more locations, all thanks to our dedicated Volunteer Walk Leaders.

Whether you like walking in the nature parks of West Chermside, the coastal paths of Thornlands, the urban vibes of Newstead, the gardens of Mount Coot-tha or the seaside of Mackay, we have a walking group for you!

Why a walking group?

Outdoor walking and exercise groups have wide-ranging health benefits including reducing blood pressure, body fat, total cholesterol and risk of depression. The group while walking undertakes the practice of gratitude, being grateful for their surroundings and with their buddy, they recount three things they are we are grateful for or focus on ‘What-Went-Well’ during the week. This exercise is also known as the ‘Three Blessings’. Being grateful and practising gratitude helps to increase happiness and reduce depression. Walking with a group also reduces social isolation and increases feelings of connectedness.
